At Artisan Lumber, our sawyers know that not all hardwood is created equal. Only by starting with carefully selected, locally-sourced logs, can we incorporate desired characteristics and produce memorable lumber, graded to high standards, for which we have become known. With over 20 years' of veteran, fine woodworking experience, our sawyers thoughtfully inspect each log and let the log's individual attributes dictate how it should be milled. These various attributes - grain, growth rings, external figuring, limb positions, girth, bark burl markings, etc. - are all carefully weighed before a single cut is made. How many sawmill operators have actually worked with the wood and know how to use it from start to finish? Look no further because at Artisan Lumber, we do.

Based in New England, we pride ourselves in providing sustainably grown hardwood lumber to our customers - architects, fine custom homebuilders, high-end cabinet and furniture makers, hardwood flooring specialists and luthiers - all of whom are increasingly mindful of the environment. All sustainably harvested from New England sources, our logs are carefully chosen to produce lumber of incomparable, consistent quality. Often sourced from urban or suburban settings where a tree has outlived its useful life, our logs are of the highest quality and harvested in the most environmentally sensitive manner available in the trade - period. (Although we find tropical hardwoods to be beautiful, for philosophical reasons, we choose not to deal in such hardwoods as the harvesting is not performed in a sustainable manner and decimates the ecosystems from which the wood is taken).

Inventory includes Black Walnut, mature White Oak, Red Oak, Black Oak, Shumard Oak, Butternut, Curly Ash, White Ash, fine quality Black Cherry, American Elm, Basswood, Hard Maple and Red Maple. Apple, Holly, Pear and wide, Old-Growth Pumpkin Pine is available.
